The gig & giving back

The gig & giving back

Here at the Cerebral Palsy Society of NZ, we’re excited to be invited to use the gigexchange’s new platform. We believe that the gigexchange will provide tremendous value to small organisations like ours, bringing us the skills we need whilst allowing us to stay nimble.

The Cerebral Palsy Society is a not-for-profit working tirelessly to improve the lives of those living with cerebral palsy. A lifelong condition, it is the most common physical disability in children in New Zealand. People with cerebral palsy may struggle to undertake simple activities related to movement, such as walking and talking. At the Cerebral Palsy Society our mission is to raise awareness of cerebral palsy, improve New Zealanders’ attitudes to physical disability, support research, and offer a range of programmes designed to allow our members to lead fulfilling lives.

We’re very proud of the programmes we run and what we’re able to achieve with our small, committed team of staff. However, like any organisation, we need to outsource work when specialist skills are needed. Hiring new staff for short term projects often isn’t feasible and comparing different outsourcers can be a time-intensive process. Platforms like the gigexchange will allow us to find specialist skills to tackle short-term problems in an efficient manner, saving us time and money.

We also absolutely love the gigexchange’s commitment to matching budding volunteers to not-for-profits. We’re currently looking to build a nationwide network of volunteers, with a particular focus on finding volunteers in major urban centres such as Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. If you’re interested in volunteering with us, you can check out our listing on the gigexchange here. Allowing not-for-profits to match with volunteers for free creates huge value for an organisation like ours.

As well as helping not-for-profits through their services, the gigexchange has also committed to generating funds for good causes. We’re honoured and humbled to be one of the gigexchange’s chosen charities.

Digital marketplaces have allowed increased efficiencies in many sectors, but the transformation in outsourcing and procurement has yet to gain traction despite clear advantages. We hope that the gigexchange will form part of that transformation, bringing value and flexibility to NZ organisations. If you’re an organisation yet to utilise the gigexchange’s services, we challenge you to do so. Finally, we once again thank the gigexchange for their commitment to donating to the Cerebral Palsy Society and enabling us to provide more support to, and a louder voice for, those living with cerebral palsy.
